FAQ
What is Kimp?
Kimp helps you discover one artwork a day and actually remember it. Over time, you build real art knowledge—artists, movements, and connections—and your “taste map” becomes uniquely yours based on what you learn and retain.
How does Today work?
Today is your daily stop: one curated artwork, once per day. You can take your time to look, read, and explore the context (artist, era, movement).
What does “Learn this” do?
Tapping Learn this saves the artwork into your knowledge and creates a few review prompts. That’s how you go from “I’ve seen it” to “I know it.”
What is Review?
Review is the part that makes everything stick. You’ll get a short session of quick prompts that refresh what you learned, right before you’re likely to forget it.
Why does Kimp use spaced repetition?
Kimp uses spaced repetition (smart timing) + active recall (remembering from your mind, not re-reading) because it’s one of the most reliable ways to build long-term memory—especially for names, styles, and recognition.
How do I answer in Review?
You’ll mark whether you remembered or didn’t. (Depending on your UI, that can be a swipe or a tap.) Kimp uses that signal to decide when to show it again.
Do wrong answers hurt my progress?
No. Wrong answers are useful. They simply come back sooner, so you get another chance while it’s still fresh enough to learn.
Why do I see some cards again?
Because recognition and recall need repetition. Seeing something again isn’t “going backwards”—it’s how it becomes automatic.
Why do some days have more reviews than others?
Review volume changes based on what’s due. If you remembered easily, cards come back later. If you struggled (or missed days), more cards may become due around the same time.
How much time does it take per day?
Most people do it in 2–5 minutes:
1 artwork in Today
a short Review session (when you have cards due)
What happens if I miss a day?
Nothing breaks—but reviews can pile up a little. If you miss several days, you might have a bigger session when you return. The best move is to just restart gently and do a bit each day until you’re caught up.
Do I need any art knowledge to start?
No. Kimp is built for beginners. If you’re curious and consistent, you’ll build real cultural confidence step by step.
Can I learn more than one artwork per day?
Not in the core flow—by design. One per day keeps it calm, enjoyable, and memorable. The goal is lasting culture, not cramming.
Can I search or revisit what I’ve learned?
Yes. You can revisit learned items from your knowledge area and search within what you’ve already learned (artists/artworks/movements).
How do I track my progress?
Your progress shows up visually: your knowledge becomes more connected over time. More connections usually means deeper understanding and stronger recall.
Can I use Kimp offline?
You can usually do Reviews offline. To load Today’s artwork (especially images), you may need a connection—once it’s loaded, you’ll often still be able to revisit what you’ve already learned.
Do I need an account?
No. Your learning is stored on your device, so you can start instantly.
Does my progress sync across devices?
Not yet. Since progress is stored on-device, switching phones can reset your data unless you restore from a device backup.
Can I reset and start over?
Yes. There’s a reset option in Settings if you want a fresh start (for example, if you’re testing or restarting your routine).
What are reminders for?
Reminders help you keep the habit effortless—so you don’t miss the next masterpiece and your progress keeps compounding.
